Damaris Morales
She was born in Cuba, started by Gymnastics at the early age of 5, winning silver medal in a competition, but quickly moved to dancing at the age of 10 performing and provincial festivals with Mambo and Cha Cha Cha. She was 11 years old when she started in the Vocational school of Arts for 3 years, passing through the National audition to the National School of Instructors of Arts. In 1990, she finished her education as Valeditorian and Graduated in Havana. She became the sub-director of the Vocational School of Arts in Isla de la Juventud, Cuba until 1997. She was also a choreographer and dancer of the dancing group LA RUEDA DE CASINO.
In 1999 she came to Indonesia and worked at SALSA CLUB for 6 months, introducing Cuban Salsa as a teacher and a dancer. Then she taught Cuban Salsa for foreigners with special collaboration with Switzerland Salsa Clubs until 2002. After that she was back to Salsa Club until 2004. Since then she decided to work independently as a salsa teacher and performer. In 2007, she participated in Malaysian International Salsa Festival, and two International Festivals in Bali. In 2015 and 2017, she was awarded Honorary by Indonesian Salsa Community for her Outstanding Service and Dedication in the development of Salsa dancing in Indonesia during 2015 Salsa Arisan Nyok in Jogjakarta. She was the founder of Cuban Salsa Indonesia in 1999, and currently working with co-founder Dhwani Bahar, developing LATIN EXPERIENCE Events in Jakarta and Bali. She is a teacher of:

Dhwani Bahar
She started dancing in the age of 6. Growing up in a family who loves dancing and the first dance she learned was the Rock n Roll from her late grand mother. Then she practiced Jive and Cha Cha Cha occasionally at family parties until she moved to Holland and started learning Hiphop, and found Salsa dance in real for the first time and and felt in love with it.
When she came back to Indonesia in 2002 she learned Cuban Salsa with Damaris Morales and started working in Salsa Club Kemang as a Dance Coordinator and was assisting Damaris for over a year, until they developed Cuban Salsa Indonesia. In 2011, Dhwani moved to Bali to promote and expand Cuban Salsa Indonesia in Bali, Indonesia. She has been performing in many events in Indonesia and managing/ choreographing a group of dancers in year 2004-2008. She has been teaching Cuban Salsa In Zoetermeer Holland in 2010-2011. Stacey Huang
She started her dance career in Ballet since when she was 4 years old. On the age of 14 she started to learn other dances such as Jazz, Hiphop, Contemporary Dance, and also some Indonesian traditional dances.
In 1999 she fell in love with Latin Ballroom Dancing and has joined competitions in different cities in Indonesia. After a while she decided to learn more about the real Latin Dancing where she found Cuban Salsa and started to dedicate herself in Cuban Salsa since 2012. In 2014, she formed a Latin Dance Community named Surabaya Latino Dancers, together with a group of friends who also love to dance. Since then she has been growing to develop her knowledge and skills in Cuban Salsa. However, in 2016 she merged her Latin Dance Community with Cuban Salsa Indonesia Organisation, and changed its name into CSI Surabaya. She believes that everyone can dance, and to expand her dancing skills and experiences, she joins many dance workshops from Indonesia to Malaysia, performs professionally in many events, and teaches Cuban Salsa in Surabaya, until in 2016 Cuban Salsa Indonesia decided to recruit her as President of Cuban Salsa Indonesia for Surabaya, Indonesia. Having those skills, she has been certified with Master Diploma of Cuban Salsa Indonesia Teaching program in 2016. Since then she was growing rapidly, from teaching Cuban Salsa & some other Latin Dances in Indonesia, and giving Cuban Salsa workshops in Latin Experience Events and some other Latin Dance Events in Malaysia, such as: ALFA (Afro Latin Festival Asia), and WBF (World Bachata Festival). |
