This is our story ...

Cuban Salsa Indonesia (CSI) was formed at the beginning of 1999 when Damaris Morales came to Jakarta, Indonesia from Cuba for the first time, bringing with her more than 20 years of experience in Cuban dance. She had so many students. One of her best students, Dhwani Bahar, graduated in 2002 and has been teaching ever since.
After several years, both of them met and decided to join forces to develop Cuban Salsa in Indonesia. They planned to expand Cuban Salsa not only with in Jakarta (with Damaris Morales), but also in other places around Indonesia, such as Bali (where Dhwani Bahar is in charge), and Surabaya (where Damaris helped build its salsa community, and then in 2016 entrusted Stacey Huang to be in charge there). Besides those two places, they were also planning to expand to Jogjakarta and Bandung. Three of them, supported by their members, work cooperatively to build Cuban Salsa in Indonesia. This way they hope to create one global Cuban Salsa Community. |
